Description
Pope Gregory IX writes to O[tto], cardinal-deacon of St Nicholas in Carcere Tulliano, papal legate, noting the great work that needs to be done in the realm of Scotland, and having appointed him legate in that kingdom, commands that he assist in the correction of its churches. He includes with this a letter to the king of Scotland, commanding him to receive O[tto], his legate, with honour, he having been sent to visit the Scottish church as well as the English.
