Pope Gregory X writes to Matthew, bishop of Ross, noting his election to that see by the dean and chapter, who empowered Matthew, then succentor, the dean, the precentor, the chancellor and the treasurer, to choose their bishop. Afterwards, the dean and chapter presented the election to the papal curia by Robert, archdeacon and Ralph of Dundee, canon of the said church, his procurators. The pope has consecrated him, and commands him to govern the see over which he has been placed. In the same manner to the dean and chapter of Ross, to the clergy, and to the people of the diocese.
