Description
Pope Alexander IV grants faculty to the abbots and co-abbots of the Cistercian order that their deputies and other discreet and educated [men] of their order may absolve absent priests according to what they see as expedient, since those monks and religious persons subjected by excommunication may remain in this sort of sentence for a long while not without danger of their souls.
