Description
Pope Alexander IV writes to the abbot and convent of Dunfermline, noting that because the resources of churches were accustomed to diminished through obligations, as much concerning loans as concerning guarantees, under pain of excommunication, he forbids them to be bound to this at the instance or mandate of any bishops, kings, magnates or any other.
