Description
Pope Urban IV writes to the bishop of St Andrews, to whom he had indulged that a hundredth may be exacted from the ecclesiastics in Scotland, having taken up the cross; that he may concede a number of indulgences and absolutions to all who had served him; he may commit the same to make a provision that no privileges of crusaders be infringed or bothered by whatever means; and finally that the five clerks assisting the said bishop, if they shall be present, may enjoy their benefices in full.
