Description
Gilbert (III) de Umfraville has granted, and by his present charter established, to Kelso Abbey, in free, pure and perpetual alms, the donation of all the teind of foals of his studs just as the charter of Sir Odinel de Umfraville, his grandfather, bears witness. In addition, he has given, granted, and by the present charter established, to the same monks, in free, pure and perpetual alms all the teind of the foals of the studs from all the mares at pasture within his forest from the western part of Cottonshope and he also designates to them the mares in his forest for two full years so that the same monks may have the teind of those foals. Gilbert and his heirs warrant this donation, concession and confirmation to the monks against all men.
