Description
William de Brus has given and granted, and by his charter established, to Melrose Abbey, for the health of his lord, William, king of Scots, and Earl David, his brother, and for the soul of Robert, his brother, in free, pure and perpetual alms that place which is next to the church of Rainpatrick (DMF) from the southern part to construct a fishery, free from all earthly service, custom and exaction, saving his sturgeon. In addition, he gives one acre of land there, that is, between the said church and the water from the east, with pasture for four cows and six oxen.
