Document 4/32/48 (Moray Reg., App., no. 6)

Description
An agreement is formed between Bishop Andrew and the chapter of Moray and Robert Hode and Matilda, his spouse, regarding the manor of Lhanbride (MOR) made in the presence of papal judges-delegate, the abbot of Deer, and the dean and archdeacon of Aberdeen; the king of Scots, asserting that the said manor was in his barony and ought to have been litigated in a royal, not ecclesiastical, court, mediated the case which was finalised as follows: The said bishop and chapter have quitclaimed to the said R. and M., his spouse, all claim and right which he claimed to have in the said manor of Lhanbride, except the church of the manor and one davoch of land pertaining to the church. The said R. Hode and M., his spouse, for this quitclaim, have given to the bishopric of Moray and the manse of the bishops and have assigned in pure and perpetual alms one davoch of land which is called 'Petnassare' with all the land between the stated bounds. The said bishop shall be free from all exaction and service, saving to R. and M. their mill with the water of the said mill and its fabric, and a brewery.
