Document 4/33/13 (Moray Reg., no. 83)

Description
Bishop Andrew of Moray announces that his intervention has settled a dispute between the chapter and Nobleman Sir Alan Durward over half a davoch of land said by the chapter to belong to the church of Urquhart (INV). An agreement was made whereby William, the chancellor of Elgin Cathedral, quitclaimed all right that he had in the lands to Alan, whereas Alan, in the name of peace, gave a ‘petite’ half land, that is, a half-half-davoch called a half davoch to the church of Urquhart in pure, free and perpetual alms. Alan and his heirs will hold this land at perpetual feu-ferme for 10s. yearly, half at Pentecost and half at Martinmas. The said church shall have a full croft and a toft of 4 acres at the site of the church, from the gift of the said Nobleman, in free pure and perpetual alms.
