Description
Master Hugh, archdeacon of Glasgow, Robert, precentor of Glasgow, Ralph, chaplain of the king of Scots, Master Christian, clerk, Philip of Partick, rector of the church of Rutherglen (LAN), have produced apostolic letters from Honorius [III] addressed to the bishop of Lismore, and the abbots of Kilwinning and Dercongal, and have proclaimed a settlement in the case between Bishop Walter of Glasgow and Abbot William and the convent of Paisley concerning the tax assessment of the vicarages due to Glasgow from Paisley. It is decided that all the churches at the time in the diocese of Glasgow shall fall in perpetuity to the monastery for its use, saving the tax assessment of the vicarages: the vicar of the church of St Cuthbert of Prestwick (AYR) has, in the name of the vicar, 6 chalders of flour with the altar; the vicar of Craigie (AYR) shall have the altarage with three chalders of flour of 100s.; the vicar of Turnberry (AYR) has 100s. for the altarage or for the teinds of grain, if the altarage is not sufficient; the vicar of Inverkip (RNF) has 100s. for the altarage; the vicar of Kilmacolm (RNF) has 100s. for the altarage; the vicar of Killellan (RNF) shall have all the altarage and one chalder of flour; the vicar of Houston (RNF) has the altarage and 3 chalders of flour; the vicar of Kilbarchan (RNF) has all the altarage; the vicar of Pollok (LAN) has the altarage and 2 chalders of flour and 5 acres of land next to the church, the remaining land falling to the monks’ use; the vicar of Cathcart (LAN) has the altarage and 3 chalders of flour; the vicar of Carmunnock (LAN) has the altarage and 3 chalders of flour; the vicar of Mearns (RNF) has 100s. or the altarage with 2 oxgangs of land next to the church, the remaining land falling to the monks’ use; the vicar of Rutherglen has 10 marks or the altarage besides the teinds of the fisheries, rendering 2 marks yearly to the monks; the vicar of (Old) Kilpatrick (DNB) has 12 marks for the altarage or the teinds of grain if the altarage is not sufficient. The church of St Nicholas of Prestwick (AYR), the church of Neilston (RNF), and the church of Rosneath (DNB) falling to the monks’ use, provided that the monks present to the bishop suitable chaplains and answer for the episcopal dues.
