Document 4/33/24 (St A. Lib., 386)

Description
William, bishop of St Andrews, makes known that controversy has been settled between Sir Henry of Denmuir, knight, and the prior and monks of May, concerning the land of Tarbreakes (FIF), whereby he has pronounced that the prior and monks do not hold the land by fealty to Sir Henry. Sir Henry, concerning both the fealty desired and the right which he claims to have over the land of Tarbreakes, shall plea or be detained at court. Sir Henry himself seized from the prior and monks a certain horse of theirs, and holds captive; thus, the bishop condemns [him] to make restitution within eight days to the prior and monks.
