Description
In 1173, an agreement was formed between Melrose Abbey and the church of Dunbar regarding the teinds of two granges that are called ‘Edmundston’ (ELO?) and Hartside (ELO), whereby the monastery of Melrose shall pay 30s. yearly to the church of Dunbar at the feast of St Martin, thus the church of Dunbar can expel nothing more from or be indebted to the monastery of Melrose for more than this 30s., which is to be given on the feast of St Martin.
