Description
John Abbe son of Malise, with the consent of his son Morgan, has given, granted, and established by this his charter, to Arbroath Abbey, licence to take charcoal in his wood of Edzell (ANG), for the welfare of his lord King William, and Queen Ermengarde, and Alexander their son, wherever they may find it, sufficient for the works of their church, for the lifetimes of himself and his heirs, in free and perpetual alms. The men who make the charcoal shall have easements of hospice and pasture for their animals on his land.
