Description
William de Moreville has granted and by this his present charter established to Melrose Abbey, in free, pure and perpetual alms, the freedom and license to plow and sow the whole land of Blainslie (ROX) and the whole plain in the circle around the forest all the way to the Leader [River] and to make their commodities wherever within their bounds, in accordance with their will, with specified restrictions, as his father, Richard de Moreville gave that [right] in free alms. He granted this freedom and liberty at the petition of his father and for the salvation of the souls of David and Malcolm, the late kings of Scots, his lords and for the salvation of William, king of Scots, his lord, and for the salvation of his soul and the soul of his wife and all his ancestors and successors.
