- Geoffrey son of Waltheof of Lilliesleaf has given, granted and by his charter established to Melrose Abbey, in free, pure and perpetual alms, 13 acres and ½ parcel of arable land in the territory of Whitton (ROX) as they lie in a tenement above ‘Rauenesfen’ near the land of the monks which they have from the donation of Patrick of Ryedale, his lord, free, quit and unbound from all terrestrial service, custom, and secular exaction. He and his heirs will acquit them from all forensic service.
