Description
John de Normanville has given, granted and made firm by his charter to Melrose Abbey, in pure and perpetual alms, a certain part of his land in the territory of Maxton (ROX), which is contained within stated bounds which include the land of the monks, with the common pasture and all the other easements of the ‘stele’ (stall?). John and his heirs will defend them from all exaction, custom and from all forinsec and private service.
