Document 3/486/8 (St A. Lib., 291)

Description
Saer de Quincy has granted and by this his charter established to St Andrews Priory ‘Davach Icthar Hathyn’ (‘davoch of lower Ethie’, in Ethie parish, ANG?) by the right bounds by which his mother (Orabilis of Leuchars) gave it to them, with all easements pertaining to the land, in perpetual alms. He also grants them common pasture for all of ‘Hathyn’.
Firm date
circa 1192 X 24 March 1201
Dating Notes
Robert de Quincy died after 20 August (_RRS_ ii, no. 428) and apparently in the year ‘1200’ (_Scotichronicon_, iv, 425), which probably means that he died between 20 Aug. 1200 and 24 Mar. 1201. The St Andrews syllabus claims that Robert de Quincy was abroad until 1192, but unsure of source.
