Description
Alan son of Elsi (Ælfsige) has granted and given and by this his present charter established to Melrose Abbey, in pure and perpetual alms, one stone of wax to provide a light before the altar of St Mary in perpetuity, given annually on Pentecost, that is, in the name of rent from that land which Owen son of Gillemichael holds from him in the villa of Thirlestane.
