Description
Ness son of Ness has given, granted, and by this his charter established, to Newbattle Abbey in pure and perpetual alms, that whole land which lies next to the land of the same monks which they hold ‘de feudo Regis’ in Prora (ELO) as far as the burn of ‘Hertteburne’, and as that burn flows into the Peffer (ELO), in 1205, in which year the monks were seised of the same land, holding free and quit from all exaction, service and secular custom.
