John son of Bertram of East Reston on the Wednesday next after the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, AD 1281, at Ayton in the full court of the prior of Coldingham, with the agreement and wish of his son and heir, Robert, quitclaimed and entirely gave back to the said prior and convent by rod and by staff the villa of East Reston with the lordship of the same villa.
