Description
Patrick Maguire has received from Sir J., bishop of Glasgow, at ferme, his land called ‘Steindaf’ in the forest of Dalquhairn for five years, beginning on the eve of Pentecost 1261, for which he will pay at Dumfries yearly to the bishop 20 marks, 10 marks in the octaves of the Assumption and 10 marks within the octaves of St Andrew. He promises to return the land to the bishop at the end of the five years and to no one else without the bishop’s permission.
