Description
Adam of Stawell has received at London in the Temple of London 1000 marks from Lady Ermengarde, Queen of Scots, mother of the lord king of Scotland, in the presence of brothers Simon and Morica, chaplains of the Temple, and other brothers of the same Temple, for the lands Balmerino (FIF), Ardie and Coultra, which he sold and resigned and in perpetuity quitclaimed, that is, 500 marks by the hand of Thomas son of Ranulph in the Temple of London on Tuesday, the morrow of the feast of St Thomas the Martyr, AD 1225 (30 Dec.), and the same amount on the feast of St John the Baptist (24 June), AD 1226, by the monks of Melrose.
