Document 1/51/30 (Dryb. Lib., no. 149)

Description
John, king of Scots, addresses his sheriffs and bailies, stating that he granted to Dryburgh Abbey those alms which they were accustomed to receive from the returns of the burgh of Roxburgh (ROX) by the grant of the kings of Scots, his predecessors. He orders and mandates that the sheriff and bailies should provide someone during the year to release the alms to the abbot and convent or their attorneys, just as hitherto the sheriffs and bailies were accustomed to render it to them, and the king will make sure to fully allocate the alms to the sheriffs and bailies every year.
