Description
John Giffard, lord of Yester, for the salvation of his soul and also his spouse, and for the souls of his father, mother and all his ancestors and successors, has granted, given, and by this his charter established to Dryburgh Abbey one half mark of silver of the annual render in the villa of Bothans (ELO), viz.: in that land which John, lord of Leys, held from him and his heirs in the villa of Bothans, annually at two times of the year, viz.: at Pentecost and at the feast of St Martin in winter, to be received in pure and perpetual alms. John promises warrandice.
