Document 3/414/18 (Balm. Lib., no. 27)

Description
John Murray, son of Sir Malcolm Murray, has quitclaimed for him and his heirs to the abbot and convent of Balmerino all right and claim which he or his heirs had, or at any time were able to have, in that land on the street of the River Perth (PER) which Laurence son of Guy sold to the abbot and convent. John states that neither he nor his heirs, nor any other by his name or that of his heirs, will be able to claim hospitality or any other right in the land. Additionally, John, for the salvation of his soul and his heirs, gave, granted and by this present letter confirmed to Balmerino a certain piece of land on the street of the River Perth towards the island to the north of the aforesaid land of the abbot and convent, which piece of land William Carpenter, burgess of Perth, sold to Sir Malcolm Murray, John’s father, in his need, as contained in the charter relating to the land which William conveyed to Malcolm, [and] which charter John rendered to the abbot and convent.
