Document 2/64/25 (Arb. Lib., no. 320)
- Description
- Nicholas, abbot of Arbroath and the convent of the same place, by the common consent of their chapter, have granted and by this their present charter established to Patrick of Ruthven that ploughgate of land of Kennethmont (i.e., Ardlair, ABD) which Earl David gave to Arbroath in alms, and which their venerable father, Henry, the first abbot, and the convent gave at ferme to William of Tottenhall. It is to be held and had by Patrick and his heirs from them and their successors, with all its correct bounds and pertinents, save to the monks the regality in the ploughgate of land. Patrick is to render to the monks and their successors one mark of silver annually, viz. half a mark at Pentecost and the other half at the feast of Saint Martin in winter.
