Description
Henry, abbot of Arbroath, and the convent of the same place, having attained the trust and friendship of the most noble prince, the lord Edward, king of England etc., promise upon pain of whatever they possess, for themselves and their successors, that they shall support him, and serve him well and loyally against all people, whenever they should be required or summoned by the aforesaid king or his heirs, and that they shall not harm or disturb them; and they pledge themselves and their successors and their church, together with all goods and chattels, and they have sworn this upon the holy Gospels. In testimony of these things, they have caused these their letters patent to be sealed with their common seal.
