- Description
- Brother Bernard, abbot of Arbroath, and the convent of the same place, by the unanimous consent and assent of his whole chapter, have given, granted and at feu-ferme leased to Patrick of Arbroath and his heirs all their land in Kirkgate Street in the villa of Aberdeen (ABD) lying between the bridge near the church of Saint Nicholas to the north, and the land of Roger the clerk to the south with all the freedoms, etc, in free burgage. Patrick and his heirs are to return to the monks seven shillings of silver at two times of the year, viz. half at the feast of Pentecost and the other half at the feast of Saint Martin in winter, and they are to thenceforth return to the king and his heirs the owed and customary ferme of the burgh. Patrick and his heirs will in no way sell, sub-infeudate or alienate the land, or lease it for the ferme, unless by the consent of the abbot, whomever he may be at the time, and the convent.
