Description
Robert, king of Scots, has given, granted, and at feu-ferme leased, to William, thane of Cawdor, the whole thanage of Cawdor, with the pertinents within the sheriffdom of Invernairn (NAI), for twelve marks of sterling annually as he was accustomed [to render] in the time of Alexander [III], king of Scotland, his great, deceased predecessor. Therefore, because Fergus, called Dempster, holds land there, he shall answer to William for the ferme which he was accustomed to render during the time of King Alexander. William is provide the service, debt and custom [owed] to the king from the time of King Alexander.
