Document 1/53/16 (RRS, v, no. 12)

Description
Robert, king of Scots, informs his justiciar on the northern part of Forth that Lawrence of Ormiston presented to him evidence which he holds from the custody of the office of the king’s constable of Crail (FIF) from ancient times, as a result of the fact that the king currently grants and establishes the office to Laurence in feu and heritage. Henceforth, the king mandates and firmly orders the justiciar to make a diligent and faithful inquiry into the commodities, fiefs and rights pertaining to the office of the king’s constable, by the good men and faithful […] and burgesses, so that Lawerence will be able to know and have knowledge [of his rights].
