Document 1/53/19 (RRS, v, no. 15)

Description
Robert, king of Scots, commands and instructs the sheriff and bailies of Forres justly to compel the fermers of his thanages of Dyke and Brodie (MOR) to repair and duly to make without delay the mill-pond of Dalpottie, which belongs to the mill of Forres, because the fermers customarily repaired and made the pond during the time of Alexander [III], king of Scotland, his predecessor. The king says that they should make sure that this is done because it is not right that the prior and convent of Pluscarden should have to have recourse to the king about this and that the king should be made to produce some remedy as a result of the sheriffs’ and bailies’ failure to respond justly to their complaint.
