Description
Renauld, count of Gueldres and duke of Luxembourg, and Margaret, his wife, daughter of the nobleman Guy, count of Flanders and marquis of Namur, make known to all that they have established and placed without recall to their dear lord and father the count of Flanders aforementioned, and their dear lady and mother, Isabella, his wife, countess of the same place, to take and receive for them and in their name, all the payment of the dowry that Margaret, has or ought to have in Scotland by reason of the marriage which was made between the nobleman of good memory, her dear lord and husband, Alexander, son of the high and powerful lord Alexander, once king of Scotland, each year from now onwards, as long as Margaret lives. And to take and receive also, on their behalf, all arrears of the abovementioned dowry which ought to come to her. They pray and request that the lord king of Scotland, whomever he shall be, or whoever shall be put in his place, or whoever shall be governor of the said realm, that he shall answer for all the said payment of the said dowry and arrears and to pay it for them to the said count of Flanders and said countess, or to who they have appointed or shall appoint in their place by their letters [patent?], and that letters of aquittance of each payment made to them shall be issued.
