Description
John, king of Scotland writes to his lord and friend, Philip, king of France, noting that he has appointed his sworn-men, William, bishop of St Andrews, Matthew, bishop of Dunkeld, John de Soulis and Ingram de Umfraville, knights, his special attorneys, procurators and messengers concerning the betrothal and marriage with the lady, his niece and relative, and Edward, first-born son and heir of the king, giving them free and full power to negotiate on his behalf.
