Description
Roger son of Laurence, clerk of Stewarton, states that since he had often disturbed the abbot and convent of Paisley concerning the right of a parcel of land in the tenement of Stewarton (AYR), which his father held from them at feu-ferme for the time of his life, [and] it was made known to him by faithful men and his conscience, the monks were being unjustly disturbed and unduly burden concerning the right of the land, [and] that he held no right to the land after the death of his father, he has given, granted, by rod and staff returned, resigned and in perpetuity quitclaimed to the monks every right, and the whole right, if it belonged to him, to the land. Roger promises warrandice, and he touched the holy gospels and supplied a corporal oath that he or his heirs will not come against this promise at any time.
