Document 3/17/70 (Lenn. Cart., 49)

Description
Malcolm, earl of Lennox, has given and granted to Patrick of Lindsey, son of Sir Hugh of Lindsey, his kinsman, the whole office which is called tosheagor (i.e. heritable baillie) of Lennox, with all the commodities belonging to that office. Additionally, he grants to Patrick the office of forrester of all his woods of Lennox, with all the commodities belonging to that office. The two offices are to be held and had from Malcolm and his heirs in perpetuity. Henceforth, Malcolm and his heirs ask that all their friends and men be attentive, consultative and submissive to Patrick and his heirs in all things pertaining to the two offices. Malcolm grants to Patrick and his heirs that if Patrick and his heirs happen to negligently fail Malcolm and his heirs in either of the offices, he wishes and grants that such failure should be emended, by the council of Malcolm and his friends. Malcolm promises warrandice.
