Document 4/33/26 (Glas. Reg., no. 243)

Description
Robert, bishop of Glasgow, states that since various problems existed between Sir William of Moray, lord of Bothwell, pantler of Scotland, on the one hand, and the dean and chapter of Glasgow on the other, concerning the church of Smailholm (BWK) of the diocese of St Andrews, and the parties had yielded to his will and ordination concerning the aforesaid, the bishop ordains the following: that the dean and chapter should resign the whole right which they had in the church of Smailholm. In return, the bishop wishes and ordains that the dean and chapter should have the rectory of the church of Walston (LAN) in perpetuity, which the bishop conferred to the dean and chapter for their sole use. Additionally, he ordains that the dean and chapter should receive, in the name of the rectory, twenty marks annually in the garbal teinds of the church of Walston, assessed by the bishop for the augmentation of their community, without any contradiction.
