Description
Pope Honorius IV writes to [Alexander III], king of Scotland, noting that Maynectus Raynaldi from [the society of] Pulices and Rimbertini, Dinus Johannis from [the society of] Thomas Spiliati, Lapus Hugonis and Tura Bonamiki from [the society of] Bonaventura Bernardi and Vantus Honesti from [the society of] Riccardi, merchants of his chamber from the societies of the cities of Florence, Siena and Lucca, related the following to him in his presence: that Pope Martin, his predecessor, permitted the teinds collected for the Holy Land in his realm, by Master Baiamond, canon of Asti, collector of the said teinds, to aid the said Holy Land from certain things, and he commanded the same assigned to the same society of merchants. Nevertheless, the king’s officials opposed them and would not allow them to take the money out of the kingdom, and have arrested some of them with the money, wherefore they prayed to the pope for remedy. The pope thus asks the king to revoke what has been done by his officials.
