Description
Pope Nicholas IV writes to William, bishop of Dunblane, noting that because the nobleman, Malise, earl of Strathearn, of his diocese, and his predecessors, the earls of Strathearn, were accustomed [to taking] the mobile goods of the deceased bishops of Dunblane, the current bishop’s predecessors, the bishop is permitted to dispose by testament of his personal property, his debts being first paid; the bishop is to bequeath money to churches, whence he has received an income.
