Description
Boniface VIII writes to John, bishop of Brechin, noting how the church of Brechin, immediately subject to the apostolic see, has been without a pastor following the death of N., bishop of Brechin and how the election was made by Master William of Clunie, precentor, Robert of Dundee, treasurer, Fulk, Raynard, James called Godisman, and Thomas called Marchand, canons of the church. The election having been examined by G[erard], bishop of Sabina, Nicholas, cardinal-priest of S. Laurence in Damaso and James, cardinal-deacon of S. George ad velum aurem. The pope thus establishes the election and orders M[atthew], cardinal-bishop of Porto to consecrate the bishop-elect. Concurrent letters to the chapter, clergy, people of the community and diocese of Brechin, to the vassals of the church and to the king of Scotland
