Description
Finlay, jagger, son and heir of the late Ralph, jagger, burgess of Glasgow, in his great need and poverty, has sold to the lord James, called ‘of Renfrew’, the chaplain, that house, with the garden and buildings pertaining to it, which he had in the villa of Glasgow on the road which stretches from the wall of the friars preachers towards the castle to the south of the road [which] exists between the land of the Abbot and convent of the monastery of Kilwinning on the one hand, and the land which Robert the procurator, late burgess of Glasgow and Christina, his wife, conveyed to the light of St Mary the virgin in Glasgow Cathedral on the other, with all the rights and dominion pertaining to him or his heirs in the house and the pertinents, and he delivered sasine of the house and the garden to James through the baillie for a certain sum of money in his great need. James and his assignees are to render to Finlay and his heirs one penny of silver in the name of a feu-ferme at the feast of Pentecost for all exactions and demands. Finlay promises warrandice, and penalties are stipulated for failure to comply with the aforesaid.
