Description
William, earl of Ross, notes that because Sir Robert, king of Scots, has remitted to him his rancour of spirit and forgiven him of all manner transgressions of offences against him and his men and graciously granted all his lands and tenements and has undertaken to infeft him heritably in the lands of Dingwall and Ferincoskry in the earldom of Sutherland, William subjects and binds himself and his heirs and all his men to his said lord the king in all circumstances; that they shall be faithful to him and his heirs henceforth, and faithfully [give] service, aid and counsel [... ... ...] against all men and women who may live or die. Upon this, William made homage to his lord the king and performed [an oath] upon God’s holy Gospels [... ... ...]. He appends his seal along with the seal of Hugh, his son and heir, and John, his son, along with the seals of the lords David [of Moray] and Thomas [of Dundee], bishops of Moray and Ross.
