Description
The king appoints his cousin and sworn man, John of Brittany, earl of Richmond, his lieutenant in Scotland and guardian of the same land; that he shall have and retain in his household, 60 men-at-arms, receiving from Michaelmas coming up to the Purification following, 10 marks daily for their pay by the hand of his chamberlain of the said land. He commands the bishops, abbots, etc., and all the community of the land of Scotland to answer to him. He also commands the sheriffs of Lancaster, Westmorland, Cumberland and Northumberland, knights, bailiffs, etc. to support him.
