Description
The king writes to the bishop of Glasgow noting that he has given his royal assent to the election made in the conventual church of Jedburgh of Brother William of Yarm, prior of the said house, to the abbacy there. The king writes to his sworn-man, John de Warenne, earl of Surrey, his guardian of the realm and land of Scotland. He has given his royal assent to the election made in the conventual church of Jedburgh of Brother William of Yarm, prior of the same house, to the abbacy there, and commands the earl that if the election is confirmed by the local diocesan and established by letters patent of the same diocesan, then, in the king’s name he should see that the elect is given the temporalities of the abbey, receiving first from the elect letters patent under his seal and signed with the seal of his chapter.
