- Description
- Concerning the petition of Isabella de Beaumont, etc., because it is testified that Alexander, late king of Scotland, gave the barony of Crail to a certain Richard de Beaumont, her ancestor, and that afterwards, John de Balliol, lately king, etc., re-gave sasine of the said barony to her, and that both of the said kings after the said gift and re-gift were seised of cain and proficuo and that the said cain does not pertain to the said barony, and that the said Richard and Isabella were at no time seised of the said cain, and that no cain in Scotland can be transferred into another’s possession unless expressly mentioned in a charter of gift, etc. An inquiry was ordered by brieve of the chancellor of England, guardian of those parts and the chamberlain of Scotland.
