[The governor of Berwick?] writes to the treasurer noting that Sir Simon Fraser is going to his service, who has prayed him much to ask the treasurer to hold him excused because […] to the treasurer’s royal lordship to consider that he has been good and loyal to him, and well and loyally has he carried himself towards the treasurer and takes great pains […] promise. And that the treasurer would have him excused as to his stay. This the writer witnesses to the treasurer by the faith which he owes him, and also that Simon has not failed in his residence […] lordship and increase the treasurer’s honours.
