Description
The king commands W., bishop of Worcester, the chancellor, to search the chancery rolls for the recognisance granted at Cumnock, regnal year 1, by Sir David of Strathbogie, earl of Atholl, Sir Aymer de Valence, Sir John of Hastings, Sir John Comyn, earl of Buchan, Sir John de Mowbray, Sir Alexander of Abernethy, Sir Alexander de Balliol, Sir David of Brechin, Sir Edmond Comyn, and Sir William of Carlisle, jointly and severally to his ‘brother’ Sir Ralph de Monthermer for 5,000 marks, payable in ten yearly instalments, none of which are yet paid, and issue letters for the arrears.
