Description
Draft letter from King Edward I to King Philip IV of France. He has received Philip’s letters asking him to be merciful to the bishop of St Andrews, the earl of Buchan and other Scots. He will be mindful of this request when they come into his peace, and intends to be as generous and merciful as he can, saving the security of his kingdom. He knows that Philip would not have him act otherwise.
