Description
Edward, king of England, lord of Ireland and duke of Aquitaine, for the good service done to him by Guy de Beauchamp, earl of Warwick, has given, granted and by this charter confirmed to the same earl all the castles and all the lands and holdings which belonged to Geoffrey de Mowbray, the king’s enemy and rebel, in the land and realm of Scotland, except for the manor of Eckford near Roxburgh. Also, all the lands and holdings belonging to John of Stirling, and the castle of Amisfield and the land of Drumgree which belonged to Andrew de Chartres, also his enemies and rebels in the said realm and which they held on 22 July 1298 [i.e. the battle of Falkirk]; to hold of the king and his heirs, with knights’ fees, advowsons of churches, dowries, escheats and forfeitures, and with other stated terms of tenure. The king appends his seal.
