Description
Edward, king of England etc., has given, granted, and confirmed by his present charter, to his dear cousin and sworn man, Aymer de Valence and his heirs, £1,000 of land in the land and realm of Scotland, that is, the castle and barony of Bothwell, and all other lands and holdings in that realm which belonged to William of Moray on 10 July 1296, and which came to the king's hands as his forfeit by the enmity and rebellion of the same William, before he gave himself up to the king's faith and will at Montrose on that day; to have and to hold of the king and his heirs, together with the advowsons of the churches and the forfeitures of all the king's enemies and rebels who held of the same William in the said realm of Scotland.
