Description
Warrant for John bishop of Carlisle, the farmer of the castle and demesnes there, for £50 6s.6d. pay of 11 Galwegian hostages, sent there by John de Warenne, earl of Surrey, the king’s lieutenant in Scotland, from the morrow of Michaelmas year 28 ending till 1 April year 30 before the bishop delivered them to John de St John, the king’s lieutenant in these parts, at 2d. a day; and £4 11s. 6d., wages of a groom serving them, at same rate.
